About Me
Hi! I'm MaryJeanne Chichester. My journey to becoming a therapist started when I graduated with honors from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Psychology. While there, I created an internship program for future students with the local hospice centers, as well as contributed to research determining the efficacy of the First Year Experience program, resulting in a published paper. From there I attended Southern Connecticut State University for my Masters in Social Work Degree. I worked for many years with at risk populations, focusing my work on those impacted by trauma, at which time I also became the Coordinator for our Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy team. After becoming independently licensed, I decided to take the leap into private practice over six years ago in order to solely focus on my clients' needs and not be restricted by agency paperwork. I'm honored to be able to hold space for my clients when they may be struggling the most.
I'm originally from Connecticut but am thrilled to be in South Carolina where the weather is warm!
After getting married, my husband and I realized we preferred the sun, sand, and ocean over snow. In our attempts to escape the cold over the years, we visited Charleston and have been smitten ever since! When not in the office, you can find me enjoying nature, from the mountains to the ocean, I enjoy it all!
